another 5 minute Friday prompt from Lisa Jo Baker:
I love the feeling of connectedness that comes from a great evening with friends, a family celebration, even just a quiet afternoon with one or two folks when we are "simpatico" as my sister puts it, happy, content....
But as someone who has struggled to make the connections, sometimes the quiet alone time after those wonderous times is just...lonely. Especially when those "golden moments" are shared with someone I've had difficult relationships with, especially when those golden moments are followed by misunderstanding, boundaries crossed, disappointment. The quiet that follows can fill me with an anxiety that knows no bounds, that leaves me wondering, "how? Why?" Questioning the relationship. How could the good time seem so filled with promise, with the hope that, "AH, a corner has been turned, things are going to be different now." And, then, they aren't.
Time!
